Genesis Development, the not-for-profit rehabilitation organization that provides support for persons with developmental disabilities in Greene County and scores of other Iowa counties, announced Thursday it has reached an agreement with Iowa-based Imagine the Possibilities to assume provision of services for its current members.
Genesis Development, which has been in existence for more than four decades, announced last month it would be pursuing a new course due to financial challenges.
Imagine the Possibilities is based in Maquoketa. It was created in 2016 and has locations in Maquoketa, Dewitt, Corning, Guttenberg and Oskaloosa. Genesis Development currently operates in five regions – Storm Lake, Boone, Lenox, Indianola and Jefferson.
“We are thrilled to have been able to come together with Imagine as quickly as we did,” said Genesis board chairperson Tim Heisterkamp. “Our goal is to have as little disruption as possible n the services we provide to our clients and employees. By joining Imagine, we will be able to achieve that goal.”
“Our mission is to empower people to reach individual achievement across the spectrum of life,” said Imagine chief executive officer Todd Seifert. “Providing services to Genesis members was a natural fit because our missions aligned so well. We are excited to welcome Genesis members and their families into our family.
Most current Genesis employees will have the opportunity to transfer their employment to Imagine with no new employee waiting periods and no gaps in benefits.
According to a Genesis press release, the vast majority of services currently received by Genesis clients will be available to them through Imagine. If a service is not provided by Imagine, the agency will work with clients to find alternative services to fill the gap.
Informational meetings for Genesis clients and employees will be held at Genesis sites in the coming weeks.
